A master collaborator, Herman excels at convening cross-sector partners, aligning stakeholders, and translating complex feasibility, legal, and actuarial findings into actionable strategies.
Herman Nyamunga is a powerhouse in economic development, capital access strategy, and inclusive entrepreneurship. With over 15 years of trailblazing leadership across the U.S., Europe, Africa, and Central America, Herman has architected game-changing programs, partnerships, and policies that unlock opportunity for underrepresented communities and drive innovation in local economies.

As Principal Consultant at Esperanza Designs, Herman is the go-to expert for CDFIs, ESOs, and mission-driven financial institutions seeking to scale capital access in under-resourced markets. He’s renowned for designing governance models, risk mitigation frameworks, and operational systems that empower community lenders to deliver impact at scale. Herman’s systems-level perspective and technical mastery have made him a trusted advisor for multi-partner initiatives, pooled-risk models, and collaborative credit enhancement strategies.

Herman’s influence extends from leading national programs at Prosperity Now—where he launched accelerator pilots and certified 75 Green Business Advisors—to shaping entrepreneurship ecosystems with the International Rescue Committee, supporting immigrant and refugee entrepreneurs across continents. In Philadelphia, he spearheaded the PowerUp Small Business Program, breaking barriers for BIPOC-owned businesses and pioneering multilingual training series that expanded access citywide.

His expertise in data-sharing, performance frameworks, and capital product design is matched only by his passion for advancing economic equity and building lasting community wealth.
